Round 1 Goes the Distance, Mobile Prevails
Wednesday, September 17th , 2053
It was a rousing finish to the Round 1 at Regions Field today.

The Mobile BayBears sent the Birmingham Barons home for the season with a 5-2 win in the decisive game of the series.

The BayBears took the series 3-2. Up next on their schedule is the Round 2.

Hauling in the MVP trophy was Mobile catcher Joe Jones. His numbers included a .318 batting average, 5 RBIs and 4 runs.

"With any luck, I'll be hoisting another one of these at the end of the Round 2," he said.

The Mobile BayBears will play against the Tennessee Smokies in the next round. Tennessee won their series against the Chattanooga Lookouts 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
Smokies Advance to Round 2
Monday, September 15th , 2053
The Tennessee Smokies said they felt the Round 1 with the Chattanooga Lookouts would go the distance.

But it didn't end up being that difficult, as Tennessee advanced to the Round 2 with a 6-4 score, to clinch the series 3-1 at Smokies Park.

"Whether it goes to the final game or not, we faced a good team and got the job done. It's a big momentum boost for us," said Luis Suazo, who was named series MVP. "We're all feeling good about our chances to win the Round 2."

For the series, Suazo hit .538 with a .647 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Tennessee Smokies don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Birmingham Barons - Mobile BayBears series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
