Eaton goes 3-for-4 as Nationals Squeeze Past New York
|
The Washington Nationals knocked off the New York Mets, 7-6, at Nationals Park. Adam Eaton was a big reason Washington won. The right fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Will Harris converted his 15th save in 15 tries. The National League East Division-leading Nationals have a record of 41-23.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from left fielder Juan Soto. For the game, Soto went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Washington a 7-5 lead.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Soto, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
