Pittsburgh Beats San Francisco, 2-1
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Oracle Park, taking down the San Francisco Giants, 2-1. Starting pitcher Trevor Williams was a big reason why. Earning his 14th save of the year was Nick Burdi. With the victory, the Pirates upped their record to 34-32.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jason Martin? The Pittsburgh center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Pirates on top, 2-0. For the game, Martin had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Pittsburgh manager Rob Biertempfel. "Our pregame was pretty good."
