Nationals Upend Mets, 5-2
|
The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the New York Mets, 5-2. Starting pitcher Kevin Gausman played a key role in the triumph. Sean Doolittle was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 9 save opportunities. Washington has now won 3 straight, while the Mets have lost 3 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Trea Turner, the 27-year old shortstop . Turner contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put Washington up, 3-1.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Turner.
