Big Day for Hernandez as Blue Jays Down Orioles, 17-6
|
In the 17-6 Toronto win over Baltimore, the impact of Teoscar Hernandez was substantial. Hernandez, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 7 in 2018, went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2. Tanner Roark got the win, improving to 9-9. He worked 5 innings, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The victory puts Toronto at 58-88.
Hernandez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Toronto in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Hernandez took a curveball from Ty Blach and stroked the home run to left. His 23rd home run of the season allowed the Blue Jays to leap in front, 3-2.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Hernandez told the Toronto Citizen.
