Red Sox Deal Reds 6-3 Defeat
|
Cincinnati got a terrific performance from third baseman Eugenio Suarez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Boston Red Sox. Boston won the Great American Ball Park contest, 6-3. Suarez was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times for the losing team. Darwinzon Hernandez earned the save, his 2nd in 4 tries. The Red Sox, now 67-85, have won 4 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Kevin Pillar, the 31-year old center fielder . Pillar contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Boston up, 3-0.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Pillar said.
