Mets Tagged with 6-1 Loss
|
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets, 6-1, at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia left fielder Andrew McCutchen had an outstanding performance. He hit 2 home runs. With this game in the books, Philadelphia is 73-85, New York 74-84.
The Phillies got an important contribution from center fielder Kevin Kiermaier, who in the bottom of the third stroked a 1-0 changeup into right-center for a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 5-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Kiermaier.
