Victory Pushes Marlins Record to 7-5
|
The Miami Marlins relied on the hitting of center fielder Jonathan Villar to stop the Washington Nationals, 9-5. For the game, Villar was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win puts Miami at 7-5.
Miami used the clutch hitting of Brian Anderson to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Marlins ahead, 7-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Villar.
