Astros Win 9-8 Walk-Off
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
The Houston Astros beat the New York Mets, 9-8, at Minute Maid Park. Houston designated hitter Yordan Alvarez had an outstanding performance. He was 5 for 5 with a home run, a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The victory makes Houston 6-5.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Houston center fielder George Springer, facing Brad Brach, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Astros the 9-8 win.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Springer told the Houston Chronicle.
