On Road, San Francisco Drops Cincinnati, 6-3
|
The San Francisco Giants defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3, at Great American Ball Park today. Leading the charge for San Francisco was first baseman Brandon Belt. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. San Francisco starter Drew Smyly was credited with the win after throwing 107 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-0. Getting the save was Tony Watson, his 4th.
With San Francisco leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Belt hit a fastball from Trevor Bauer for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Giants ahead, 5-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Belt, "and today was a good one for us."
Cincinnati falls to 8-10.
