League Suspends Olson and Garcia for Brawl
Sunday, September 6th, 2020
Yesterday at Oakland Coliseum Matt Olson and Luis Garcia got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.

Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Olson will have to sit out 4 while Garcia would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.

Presently Olson is batting .280 with 50 home runs and 113 RBIs. He has played in 142 games and scored 103 times.

To date this year Garcia has won 3 and lost 1 with a 7.53 ERA, 2 saves and 46 strikeouts in 69 relief appearances.
