MID News: The Offseason Begins

It's a bittersweet time for baseball fans -- the joy of having watched the final MID championship game being played is balanced by the realization that it's all over for another season. So begins the offseason, where the winners bask in the glow of their success while the losers take stock of their performance and begin to lay plans for next year. Whether or not those plans will bear fruit is something that only time will tell.

Dragons Aneurys Zabala Hurt

A blow for Aneurys Zabala today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 12 months with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. Zabala suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the Dayton Dragons are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Zabala's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.
In 57 relief appearances this year, Zabala has thrown 62.1 innings, struck out 90 and collected 38 saves. His won-lost record is 2-4 with a 1.59 ERA.
