GCL News: The Offseason Begins

The doldrums are upon us. Baseball is officially over for another year and the tarp can go on the field one final time. Of course, there is still plenty of activity in Gulf Coast Rookie League. There are roster and financial moves to be made. There is the endless speculation of who will end up where. Rumors, trades, firings, hirings and a joyful merry-go-round of action that will culminate with Opening Day.

Buss Tags Rays for 5 Hits

It was a parade of hits for Nick Buss of the Houston (GCL) Astros at Charlotte Sports Park today.
Connecting almost every time he went to the plate, Buss finished the day with a total of 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His strong individual effort propelled the Astros to a 9-3 victory.
"Buss was really good and we were really bad," groaned Rays manager . "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him."
Nick Buss doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
Thus far this season Buss has hit .352 with 4 home runs, 40 RBIs and scored 45 times.
