Big Day for Kerr in 7-3 Mets Win
|
The New York (N) Mets beat the Los Angeles (N) Dodgers, 7-3, at Dodger Stadium. The Mets got a fine performance from right fielder Danny Kerr, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 triples, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Tim Allen, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-3. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3. The save was credited to Kinnosuke Arai, his 9th.
New York (N) relied on the hitting of Joel Wright to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mets on top, 6-3. For the game, Wright had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Kerr attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
The win leaves New York (N) with a record of 18-10.
