Albert Sánchez put the Boston Red Sox on his shoulders as they downed the Detroit Tigers in the League Champioship Series.

Boston won the deciding game by a 4-3 count at Fenway Park and wrapped up the series 4-2.

Sánchez played a key role in the victory, as he was named series MVP for his offensive output, which included a .368 batting average with a .520 on-base percentage, 2 home runs, 8 RBI and 5 runs scored.

"I told myself it was time to step it up and help the team win and I'm glad I was able to do that," he said.

The Boston Red Sox will play against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the next round. Pittsburgh won their series against the Jacksonville Bombers 4 games to 0. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Champioship Series finishes.

Pirates Cruise to World Series with Sweep

With a 5-3 win to wrap up the series at Deathdealer Field, the Pittsburgh Pirates have eliminated the Jacksonville Bombers in the League Champioship Series and move on to the World Series.

Pittsburgh controlled the series from the outset and won it in a 4-0 sweep.

Kevin Baldwin led the charge offensively for the victors, winning series MVP honors. He posted a .500 batting average, along with a .588 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs.

"We're not done yet," the MVP said. "There is still a lot to accomplish."

The Pittsburgh Pirates don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Detroit Tigers - Boston Red Sox series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Champioship Series finishes.
