Giants Rally to Eke Out Win
San Francisco first baseman Chris Nelson played a vital role in his team's 5-4 triumph over New York (N). He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for San Francisco. San Francisco reliever Kevin Parks picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Steve Clary absorbed the loss. This loss makes it 7 in a row for New York (N).

Nelson had a game-changing single in the top of the 15th. On a full count fastball from Steve Clary, he banged a run-scoring single to right-center, giving the Giants a 5-4 lead. It was the 20th hit of the year for Nelson.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said San Francisco field general Bob McGugan.
