Tornatore Lifts Royals to 9-2 Triumph
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Kansas City fans at Kauffman Stadium.

The Kansas City Royals thumped the Minnesota Twins, 9-2, at Kauffman Stadium. Joseph Tornatore was a big reason his team got the win. Tornatore was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Augusto Medina, the winner, improved to 2-5. He held Minnesota to no runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts.

In the bottom of the fifth, Chad Morgan delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 2nd, the Kansas City designated hitter hit a 2-run home run, putting the Royals in front, 9-2.

Minnesota manager Michael Brewer said his team was "out of sync."

The third-place Royals improved to 16-17.
