The Pittsburgh Pirates got a sterling performance from first baseman José Becerra, but the Boston Red Sox still prevailed, 4-3. Becerra was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Pittsburgh manager Phil Matthews said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
