Giants Topple Cardinals, 3-1
|
San Francisco Giants pitcher Bob Riley was in fine form, leading his team past the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-1. Dan Collins finished to wrap up his 13th save. San Francisco now owns a record of 20-34.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Mario Mendoza to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"The clubhouse can get insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Riley told the San Francisco Daily.
