New York (A) starter Noah Syndergaard had a strong outing against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-1 win. The last-place Yankees improved to 23-38.

Casey Gillaspie came through for New York (A) in the top of the fourth. With no one out, Gillaspie victimized Jeremy Cook with a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put New York (A) on top, 3-1.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Cleveland skipper Matt Morgan, "and it cost us."
