The Cincinnati Reds topped the New York (N) Mets, 3-1, in National League action at Citi Field. The standout performance belonged to Cincinnati pitcher and San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic, native Jorge Ruíz. The third-place Reds lifted their record to 26-31.

Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Jesús Nava to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Ruíz told the Cincinnati Daily News.
