Yankees Knock Off Orioles, 8-7
|
New York (A) and Baltimore duked it out and the Yankees came out victorious.
Mikolas Polansky had a good game, but he could not keep the Baltimore Orioles from falling, 8-7, to the New York (A) Yankees at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Baltimore designated hitter belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice in the loss. José Fernández was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jim Yates notched his 18th save in 19 chances.
New York (A) relied on the bat of Bob Armstrong to get the win. The center fielder ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yankees ahead, 8-4. For the game, Armstrong had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Armstrong, "but we got it done."
With this game in the books, New York (A) is 36-38, Baltimore 37-37.
