Athletics Knock Off Angels, 2-1
|
The Oakland Athletics topped the Los Angeles (A) Angels, 2-1, in American League action at O.co Coliseum. The standout performance belonged to Oakland pitcher and Seattle Hill-Silver Firs, Washington, native Norberto Ramírez. Ramírez, now 9-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Oakland's record now stands at 56-51, placing them third in the American League Western Division.
Making an impact for the home team was Luis García. In the bottom of the first, the 31-year old left fielder had a run-scoring ground out. That made the score 2-0, Athletics.
"That's baseball," said Los Angeles (A) manager Jobo Foster. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
