Nationals Collect 2-1 Win Versus New York (N)
|
Duane Lawson never let the Mets get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his changeup, to pitch the Nationals to a win, 2-1. Lawson got the win, improving to 13-8. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. Lawson allowed 1 run. Tuu-ko-ihu Kaleo, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 23rd save.
In the top of the sixth, Brad Numbers delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Washington first baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Nationals in front, 2-1.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," New York (N) manager Gary Osborn said following the tough loss.
Washington has now won 4 in a row.
