Reds Beat Cubs, 5-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds racked up a win at Wrigley Field, bumping off the Chicago (N) Cubs, 5-3. Juan Salinas, who started for Cincinnati, pitched effectively for his team. Cincinnati goes to 58-94, Chicago (N) to 78-74.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ed Jones? The Cincinnati third baseman had a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Reds on top, 4-2. For the game, Jones had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I liked the focus, I liked the effort," said Reds manager .
