Cincinnati Tops Seattle, 5-2
|
Cincinnati rode a fine outing from starter Chris Wood to victory over the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. The final score was 5-2. Wood, now 11-15, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Cincinnati is in last place in the National League Central Division with a record of 62-96.
It could have been a different outcome for Cincinnati, had it not been for Raúl Campos, the 23-year old right fielder . Campos contributed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Cincinnati up, 5-0.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Wood told the Cincinnati Daily News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
