Pirates Edge Rockies, 2-1
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates eked out a 2-1 win versus the Colorado Rockies at PNC Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Bobby Ward. He was terrific. The winning pitcher was Ward, now 3-0. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Colorado now has a record of 5-6.
Early in the game, second baseman Ken Quebell had a 2-run double for Pittsburgh. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Pirates on top, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Pittsburgh Today, Quebell said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
