Mets Get Past Philadelphia for 2-1 Win
|
New York (N) got a first-rate effort from pitcher Jeff Abbott, who frustrated Philadelphia hitters en route to a 2-1 Mets triumph at Citi Field. Abbott got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Abbott allowed 1 run. Kinnosuke Arai earned the save for New York (N), his 6th.
Ollie Ball took Dave Frazier deep in the bottom of the eighth. His solo home run put the Mets on top, 2-1. In all, Ball had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said New York (N) manager Gary Osborn.
With the loss, Philadelphia falls to 6-13.
