The Chicago (N) Cubs topped the Cincinnati Reds, 8-3, in National League action at Wrigley Field. The standout performance belonged to Chicago (N) pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Mike McDonald. The win gives the Cubs a record of 10-9.

Bob Johnson put Chicago (N) in front, 4-0, when he took Jorge Ruíz downtown. His 2-run home run came with one out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 7th home run of the season.
