Pirates Need Extra Innings to Top Lynx, 10-9
Good production from left fielder Del England helped the Pittsburgh Pirates topple the Ottawa Lynx, 10-9. England went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 3 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Pirates. The Lynx, now 3-19, continue their inauspicious start.

The knockout blow came in the bottom of the 14th inning. That's when center fielder José Velasco stepped to the plate with runners on 1st and 2nd and hit a run-scoring single, to win the ballgame.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Ottawa manager Terry Kift. "But we decided not to take it."
