Snappers-Chiefs Fight Nets 4-Game Suspensions Thursday, July 11th , 2041 The fans at Harry C. Pohlman Field saw it all yesterday in the Snappers-Chiefs game -- pushes, shoves, scuffles, a few tackles, a few swings, a few feeble punches -- and a baseball game, too. When the ruckus was over, only two players were sent to the showers by the umpire crew. Beloit's Albert Nieves and Peoria's Anastasio Silva were ejected from the game. Today the two players were suspended 4 games by the league commissioner. This year Nieves is batting .274 with 55 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 32 times and has batted in 22 runs. So far this year Silva has delivered 2 saves. In 15 relief appearances he has 46 strikeouts in 43 innings with a 2.51 ERA and 3 wins and no losses. |
