Big Day with Bat: Gibson 5-for-5 Saturday, July 13th , 2041 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Jim Gibson today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Oldsmobile Park and paced the Lugnuts to a 6-5 win over the Lake County Captains. After his dynamite batting performance, the Lansing center fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Jim Gibson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
