He may have less experience than most of his Olympics peers, but that didn't slow Reinhard Merk down at all in 2056.
At the age of 24, the Germany second baseman has been named the winner of the Olympics Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .341 batting average and a .446 on-base percentage this year. In 36 games he piled up 47 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, 41 RBIs and 32 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 20 first place votes out of a possible 24. Nicky Brown of the England finished second in voting, while Guglielmo Finocciaro of the Italy finished third.
