Grasshoppers Clinch Spot in the Postseason

It remains to be seen how the 2051 Greensboro Grasshoppers will be remembered, but one thing is now assured - the team will have a chance to win their 3rd North Central League Cup.
On the strength of their 66-51 record, the Grasshoppers today officially punched their ticket for the postseason, although it remains to be seen whether that will be as a division winner.

Hickory Punchless in 11-0 Loss to Aigles

In an impressive outing, Freddy Rijo blanked the Hickory Crawdads 11-0.
"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Rijo, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.
"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."
The Trois-Rivieres hurler held Hickory scoreless, allowed 5 hits, chalked up 10 strikeouts and yielded 4 walks.
This year, Rijo has compiled a 11-3 record with a 2.13 ERA in 8 starts.
