Monuments Lose to Starlings in Walk Off
Crowds lined up early in front of New Shibe Park, eagerly awaiting the start of the 1991 United League season. On the mound was Teddy Higuera for the visiting Washington Monuments and Kirk McCaskill for the hometown Keystone Starlings. In a spirited contest, the Starlings pulled out the win, defeating the Monuments by the score of 5-4. Especially impressive was Kirk McCaskill. Keystone reliever John Dopson was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Ed Nunez took the loss.

Cecil Fielder was the walk-off hero for Keystone. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Starlings first baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Keystone manager Douglas Aiton.
