Davis Slugs Hilltoppers to 7-3 Win
The home crowd had a good time watching the Detroit Griffins and Atlanta Hilltoppers get after it.

The Atlanta Hilltoppers beat the Detroit Griffins, 7-3, at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. Eric Davis, in particular, was impressive. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 6. David Clyde, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 2 and walking 2.

Davis contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Atlanta in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Davis took a changeup from Scott Bankhead and stroked the home run to left-center. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Hilltoppers to leap in front, 4-2.

Davis told the Atlanta Chronicle: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."

For the Griffins, the loss makes their record 11-18.
