Hex Series Game 1 Victory for Burns and Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Superbas started the Hex Series in style today, downing the visiting Washington Monuments at Frank Thomas Memorial Stadium by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Superbas left-hander Britt Burns threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball.

Ken Landreaux, who finished 2nd in the UL in runs with 99 in 1983, aided the Brooklyn cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Burns said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Frank Thomas Memorial Stadium in Brooklyn.
