Monuments Take Down Starlings, 1-0
|
Washington pitcher Bret Saberhagen was good. Really good. He twirled a 4-hit shutout to beat the Keystone Starlings, 1-0. Saberhagen went the distance for Washington. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. With the win, the Monuments sit at 27-25.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Washington shortstop Chico Walker, facing Roberto Hernandez, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Monuments the 1-0 win.
"That's baseball," said Keystone manager Douglas Aiton. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
