Behind a solid performance from first baseman Cecil Fielder, the Keystone Starlings defeated the Washington Monuments, 7-5. Fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Starlings. Rod Beck, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With the win over Washington, the Starlings improved to 22-31.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Fielder. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
