Boston Shuts Out Monuments, Clemens Winner
Sunday, October 7th , 1990
A favor to his bullpen. That's what Roger Clemens was doing at Fenway Park today as he blanked the Washington Monuments in a 9-inning complete game shutout.
"I went out there to try to eat up innings and help out our bullpen," the Boston Federals right-hander said later. "I felt I had my good stuff, and it turned out my command was solid."
Clemens notched 11 strikeouts, surrendered 2 walks, allowed 4 hits, and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
Clemens has a 18-6 season record so far. In 32 starts, he has fanned 247 batters in 225 innings with a 3.68 ERA.
