Sausalito first baseman Dale Fairchild pounded Puerto Rico Tropics pitchers at Roberto Clemente Park, but it was not enough to keep the Meatballs from falling, 7-5 in Game 1 of the Divisional Wildcard Series. Fairchild was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 4, though he couldn't keep the Meatballs from slipping to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-3 series.

In the bottom of the third, Puerto Rico right fielder Marcos Morales had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Morales stroked a grand slam home run to left. It made the score 6-2, Puerto Rico. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.

"Best-of-3 series are brutal," Sausalito manager Jim Cross said. "You can get into trouble so fast. We can't afford any mistakes now."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Roberto Clemente Park in Guanica.
