Carlos Marín and the Puerto Rico Tropics opened the League Divisional Series in brilliant fashion today, traveling to Pacifica and shutting out the host Pantalones at Frontierland Park 3-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Marín, the Tropics left-hander, threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball.

Juan Vázquez, the two-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Vázquez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Puerto Rico up, 3-0.

Vázquez told a Puerto Rico Herald reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Frontierland Park in San Francisco.
