The Colorado Rockies faced a tough opponent in Los Angeles pitcher Ryan Pepiot, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Angel Stadium of Anaheim by a final score of 4-2. Pepiot went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The slumping Angels have lost 9 straight.
Colorado needed the clutch hitting of Leody Taveras to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rockies on top, 4-2. For the game, Taveras had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
After the game, Colorado manager Joel Hinds applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
