Reds Top New York, 7-6
|
A 5-RBI performance from the 26-year old left fielder Matt Gorski helped the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Yankees, 7-6. The win belongs to Jhon Romero in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ken Giles took the loss for New York. Kirby Snead recorded the save for Cincinnati, his 2nd of the season.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Eric Hosmer to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Reds on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Hosmer.
The Reds, with just their 7th win in 23 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
