Late Magic Gets San Diego 8-6 Win
|
The San Diego Padres topped the Seattle Mariners by a score of 8-6. Leading the way was left fielder Nolan Jones. Jones was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Padres. Joe Jimenez, credited with the win, is now 5-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. Carlos Vargas picked up the save, his 1st.
Jones had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Caleb Boushley, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Padres a 8-6 lead. It was the 25th home run of the year for Jones.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Jones. "And not try to do too much."
With this game in the books, San Diego is 64-79, Seattle 71-72.
