Twins Edge Giants, 6-5
|
The Minnesota Twins and San Francisco Giants obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
The Minnesota Twins defeated the San Francisco Giants, 6-5, in National League action at Target Field. Minnesota pitcher Bryan Mata had a standout performance. Minnesota reliever Louie Varland picked up the win, raising his record to 1-5. Ian Hamilton was tagged with the loss. JT Brubaker earned the save for Minnesota, his 1st of the year.
Had Rhys Hoskins not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hoskins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Twins.
"Winning never gets dull," said Mata.
The last-place Twins have won 4 in a row.
