Blue Pirates Prevail, 3-2, Over Miami
|
Marlins Park was the site of a competitive game between the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Pirates.
The Toronto Blue Pirates did just enough to secure a victory over the Miami Marlins, 3-2, at Marlins Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Justin Verlander. Ben Joyce was credited with the save for Toronto, his 12th of the season.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Yandy Diaz to capture the win. The first baseman socked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Pirates ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Verlander. "But I like how we're playing right now."
This win makes it 5 in a row for Toronto.
