Rockies Come Up Short at Detroit, 4-3
|
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Colorado Rockies, 4-3, in National League action at Comerica Park. Detroit pitcher Shane Baz had a standout performance. Baz got the win, improving to 7-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. Baz allowed 2 runs. Diego Castillo finished the game for Detroit and earned his 3rd save.
Josh Naylor swatted a solo home run for Detroit in the bottom of the seventh. The first baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Detroit manager Malcolm Thornton.
Detroit goes to 30-20. The win puts them 4½ games up in their division.
