Cardinals Suffer 7-4 Setback
|
Texas picked up a win at Busch Stadium, toppling the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-4. Pitcher Corbin Burnes was one of the reasons the Rangers triumphed. Reliever Emilio Pagan picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Raisel Iglesias took the loss. Getting the save was Andres Munoz, his 9th.
Texas needed the clutch hitting of Yordan Alvarez to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers on top, 4-1. For the game, Alvarez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Corbin -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Rangers manager Glen Golden. "He was the key to us winning."
Texas, at 32-18, is 4½ games up in the National League Midwest Division.
