Mets-Blue Pirates Trade: deGrom for Contreras Monday, May 13th , 2024 Reports have surfaced that New York has agreed to send 35-year old RHP Jacob deGrom and 29-year old 2B Tyler Wade to the Toronto Blue Pirates in exchange for 22-year old minor league RHP Hayden Birdsong and 26-year old C William Contreras. "It's a done deal," said one executive speaking on the condition of anonymity. "I'm surprised word got around so quickly. We just signed off on this an hour ago." The deal apparently is awaiting physicals before an official announcement is made by either team. New York will retain a portion of deGrom's remaining contract. This season deGrom has a 3-5 record with a 2.42 ERA. Batting .306 to date, Contreras has 5 home runs and 22 RBIs. |
